Things To Do

Welcome to El Salvador

El Salvador, the smallest country of the Central America, is situated on the Pacific shore neighboring to Guatemala and Honduras. Prior to invasion of Spanish conquerors, the present territory of El Salvador was called Cuscatlan, which, translated from Nahuatl, means "the land of jewels". However, despite that "the Tom Thumb of the Americas" (a nickname invented by poet Gabriela Mistral) possesses numerous destinations for surf, eco-tourism, small town and archeological parks lovers!

Seb is a big lover of the beaches and volcanoes, find some of ours (mostly his) favorite spots below.

Vulcano Hiking

One of our favorite activities in El Salvador is enjoying the nature and the beautiful views while hiking one of the many volcanoes.

  • Santa Ana (difficulty: intermediate, length: 2-3 hours)
  • Izalco (difficulty: advanced, length 3-4 hours)

Relaxing at the Beach

El Salvador has one most popular beaches for surfing but even if you are not into water sports you will not be disappointed. From Surfcity to El Sunzal or La Costa Del Sol you find beautiful beaches with black sand and great restaurants.

Explore Mayan Ruins

There are three main archeological sites for you to explore ancient mayan ruins.

  • Tazumal (about 1,5 hours from San Salvador)
  • Joya De Ceren (about 1 hour from San Salvador)
  • San Andres (about 1 hour from San Salvador)

Shopping

Right next around the Fairfield and Courtyard hotels are multiple big shopping centers with entertainment, food and bars to spend a day in the city.

  • Multiplaza
  • La Gran Via
  • Cascadas

For local high quality shopping we recommend visiting Bambu city center and exploring its surroundings.
